Welcome to my website. My name is Israel Halperin, I am an ex-athlete, a coach, researcher, and lecturer.
For many years I dedicated my life to martial arts. I spent extended periods training and competing in Israel, USA, and Thailand. After accumulating one-too-many injuries, I decided that it was time to hang up my gloves and begin coaching.
I have delivered thousands of training sessions as a strength and conditioning and martial arts coach to state, national, and Olympian athletes. I also spent 3 years in the Australian Institute of Sport assisting the Olympic combat sport teams prepare for the Rio Olympics.
In parallel to my coaching career, I completed a M.Sc in Exercise Science from Memorial University of Newfoundland in Canada, and a PhD in Exercise Science from Edith-Cowan University in conjunction with the Australian Institute of Sport in Australia.
My research interests include motor learning, strength and conditioning, and research methodology. To date, I have published dozens of peer-reviewed articles and was recently voted as one of the top ten sport scientists who strength coaches should know by Simplifaster.
I regularly present to coaches, physiotherapists, scientists, and work as a consultant for professional bodies. I also teach a course on evidence-based practice that covers strategies to improve decision making processes by integrating research, personal experience and client preferences.
